My name is Matt Cooper and I am an artist with Autism. Before last year, I probably wouldn’t have called myself an artist. I wrote books and screenplays and made films, but my experience with painting was limited to art class back in high school. About a year ago, though, I got it in my head that I wanted to try to paint, and the work before you is the result of that. I often paint to get out my emotions. As a result, they’ve been described as surreal or dream-like. You can often tell what mood I was in based off the painting from that day. My hope is that my paintings evoke a feeling, whatever feeling that may be.
